salinity and turtling
Last year, a ditch was built to channel salt water into the marsh and let fresh water out. The goal is to reduce the amount of the invasive phragmites. We check the salinity levels in multiple places in the marsh to see what's going on.
I also found this little turtle in the trap. You can see how we mark the shells to identify them. It doesn't hurt, but they sure as hell don't like it.
There was also a snapper in that trap, it turns out. Good thing I didn't reach in.
