One month later....
...and all five of the swanlings seem to be fine. I've been studying this picture for some time now, and I think that I can see some differences between them. This could become useful when it comes to giving them names. I think I need to get down to the pond without a camera and really get a good look at them. Whilst it normally improves your eye, sometimes photography prevents you from seeing certain things - although I believe that to overcome this, some photographers will spend the majority of their shooting time just looking and only take pictures at the end.
After 25 years of two-finger typing at a computer keyboard I've started to learn formal touch-typing. I'm proud to report this whole piece has been typed without me looking at the keyboard once.
After just two weeks' training, I have had it scientifically proved that I now type 50% slower.
