It was my pops' birthday today. Not the normal happygolucky affair because my Taid, his dad, passed away on the same day umpteen years ago and he's never quite got his head round the 'being happy but sad' thing.

We always do our best to cheer him up though and year by year his smile edges it's way closer to a grin.
