The Red Road

Built in the 1960s these were the highest blocks of flats in Europe. Not a good decision by the Glasgow housing authorities. They quickly became a blot on the landscape and not the quality housing people were expecting. Recently used for housing asylum seekers, some are due to be demolished in the near future.

I tried to catch them at their best in some nice early evening lighting. But this shouldn't disguise how bad they are.

On a positive note I should mention 'Red Road' the excellent award winning movie starring Kate Dickie shot at this location.
