It was my dad's birthday. We went to the Souplantation to celebrate.

Later that night, my brother and I went to see the The Hurt Locker with our second cousins (who we also saw Moon with). The Hurt Locker is an independent film about war and its affects on soldiers. I was a bit apprehensive about this movie at first. I thought it wasn't going to be good, but by the end of the film and reflecting on it for a while, it was really well done.

Why did the director decide to name the film "the hurt locker?" In the film what do you think is the hurt locker? Well to answer this question, I would say the hurt locker is war zone, the mental state of a solider post-war, and a specific item in the film - a person locked in a suicide bomb vest. War zone as a locker because the soldier wants to leave, but cannot until he serves his term there. Mental state as a locker because nobody else understands the "pain" which he experienced fighting in the war zone. He has no one else to relate with. He has nobody to express what he truly feels. Metal suicide vest with locks as a locker... well for obvious reasons.

At the beginning of the film, there was a quote saying that "war is a drug." I would say in order for the soldier to free himself from his hurt, he must go back to war. Not only does war provide a place where others understand him, but there is an adrenaline rush that occurs when a soldier is in combat therefore he is temporarily relieved from his pain.

This is a brief analysis of what I thought of the film, but I suggest that you give this film a chance. You can really understand what a soldier goes through.

And to comment about the theater, it was really swanky. Checkout the movie times listed on the train station like board. We had assigned seating and there was a person who gave a brief intro about the film before it started. Pretty cool. Arclight Hollywood is a really nice theater, if you live in the LA area it's a must go place.
