Big scary cross

Lovely day out with our friends in and around Castres today. Nice wander around the market and a mad junk store (mad because everything was piled up so you couldn't really look at anything for fear of pulling a whole pile of other stuff on top of you. Also everything seemed grotesquely overpriced, until I figured out that a lot of it was still in French Francs. That's probably the last time they sold anything judging by the piles of stuff and lack of any sales staff. Also some of the building had no roof.

After that we headed off to a national park sort of area north of Castres where there were lots of big granite boulders. One was "Les Trois Fromages" (the three cheeses) which I could have blipped for the assignment birthday thingy, had I known about it then. My photos of it are a bit rubbish though and anyway it didn't look much like cheeses to me - more like a bunch of rocks.

The cross is in the granite park.

You might have got a shot of a lizard's tail, but you really had to be there for that - it was still twitching and wriggling but that's not so easy to capture in a photo. Our hosts' dog, who came over from Ireland with them, has been having much fun chasing lizards in the back garden - and obviously succeeded with one.

Long, lovely day punctuated with much wine and catching up.
