And rest
Wild daisies at sunset.
This blip is for Rachel, who sadly died on Friday after a long battle with cancer. Rachel and I worked together for nearly 10 years and I consider her to have been a very good friend. I wrote about her here when she retired on health grounds about 18 months ago - I don't want to say too much more because it is too sad.
I have lots of happy memories, mostly to do with travel to meetings and conferences, but the one that sticks out is very simple. We were sat in Charles de Gaulle airport following a project meeting about something or other (I think it might have been my first foreign project meeting in that particular job) and decided to have a beer while we waited. Suddenly we heard the following message over the tannoy, "Will Powell and Heery please go to gate such and such, otherwise your bags will be unloaded". We jumped up and ran for the gate, just managing to catch the plane. We'd misjudged the time by an hour I think. It wasn't the last time we had to run to catch a flight.
Rachel will be very much missed by those who knew her. My thoughts are with her family.
