Single Parenthood
I am beginning to develop a heightened appreciation of what it means to be a single parent.
It's only been two days since Mrs Delphwynd jetted off to Atlanta for a well deserved break with her best friend, but the extra strain of responsibility is being felt pretty keenly. Goodness knows what state I'll be in by next week.
As well as appreciating what the extra burdens of single parenthood bring, I'm also becoming aware how much responsibility we do share as a slick two parent automaton and the things we do almost on auto pilot without the need to ask or be asked. Meal times for instance. Mrs D has filled fridge and freezer with meals to keep us going for a good while but the temptation to reach for the take-away menu after a hectic day is beginning to look like 'a damn fine idea'. It's Friday tomorrow and I think the decision has already been made to phone out for our tea, either because Friday's normally the one day we do this, or because the kids don't want to risk their food getting cold again while Dad takes photos of it...
Anyway, Mrs D, if you catch this be assured your kids are fine. No school missed, homework's signed, they're fed and clothed, bedded down at (near) reasonable time, teeth brushed (probably) and no trips to casualty (yet).
In fact, Smiley Faces all around :-)
Luv ya, miss ya. B, H. & E. xxx
