Purchase of the day*

I have a love-hate relationship with my hiking boots. They've taken me to some beautiful places, and saved my ankles on countless occasions. But, putting them on for a full day's hiking involves an elaborate routine of foot-taping and double-socking to prevent blisters. They also cost me both my big toenails on the descent at Kilimanjaro.

So, I'm rather excited about having bought a pair of trekking shoes - rather than boots - today ahead of our holiday. Should be a little more versatile and, so far, they seem ridiculously comfortable (famous last words though - I'll report back after they've had a decent wear).

Trumped though by J's purchase of the day, which is a new 500D camera. Lucky, lucky man.
