First Day in Hawaii

Our first day in Hawaii was pretty exhausting. After waking up at 3:30 a.m., driving 2 hours to LAX, sitting in the airport for a couple more hours, taking a five hour flight (I watched "The Time Traveler's Wife and "The Hangover"), and getting from the Honolulu airport to the rental car place to our hotel, we were pretty exhausted . . . and HUNGRY! The packet of peanuts and two cookies we were served on the plane didn't do much to tide over our appettite!

Ideally, we would have gone out to a romantic dinner for two, but instead we settled on the first thing we saw that looked fast . . . and that's why you see a photo of our first meal:two fish filets from McDonald's, served with fries, soda, and pineapple! I snapped this photo before scarfing it down - and "cartoonized" it with photo software.

We rarely eat fast food - especially because as octo-lavo vegetarians there typically isn't much to offer us. So it was sort of a treat to go to McDonald's but I barely tasted this meal I ate so fast!

Another interesting item besides the pineapple on the menu was Saimin - a Hawaiian noodle soup. Quite interesting that they localized their menu with these two unique items.

After dinner, we went back to our hotel to take a nap and we ended up sleeping the night away until 3:30 the next morning. The time difference (2 hours behind Pacific Time) really messed with our sleep cycles and we ended up going to bed pretty early and waking up by 3:30 or 4 every day.
