Day 2 in Hawaii: Yes!

Our second day on Oahu was definitely the highlite of the entire trip.

It started early at 3:30 when we woke up, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed from our long slumber. We watched a couple hours of the local news and thought it was hilarious when they described the weather forecast as "crisp" . . . um, it didn't dip below 80 degrees! Definitely not crisp in my book! It did rain off and on most of the day but we didn't mind - it felt warm and humid and the rain mostly came and went.

At six, we went out to Waikiki Beach and rented long boards. I attempted to paddle and surf but was pretty misearble at it. But it was so beautiful sitting on the board looking at the stunning view of the beach, Honolulu city skyline, and Diamond Head in the distance. The water was so clear and so warm - and when it started sprinkling a beautiful rainbow appeared over the beach! I wish I had been able to take a photo!

After surf and breakfast, we spent the day at the North Shore, stopping by some of the famous surf sites: Waimea Bay, Pipeline, and Sunset.

At Pipeline, we took a walk along the beach to take photos of the Volcom House and R recognized two of the surfers out in the 10' + high waves. We sat on the beach for awhile and I was amazed by the talent of the surfers and their bravery! Those waves looked really scary - not only because of their height but the force as they crashed on the sand.

As we were sitting there, enjoying the gorgeous views and the sun that had peeked out from the clouds, R totally surprised me by getting onto one knee and asking me to be his wife!!

Of course I said yes!!!!!

This photo taken moments later is of the ring he gave me and his sandy knee! I love it!

Most appropriately, we celebrated with a slice of pineapple pie and a bottle of pineapple soda from Ted's Bakery. Later, we shopped in the little town of Haleiwa and had a delicious buffet dinner back at the hotel!

I'm so excited to be engaged to the love of my life - I'm looking forward to a wedding but most of all, I'm thrilled to create a marriage, a family, and a long life together.
