Imagining a Musical Moment

I love everything about Christmas. I can blame that on my wonderful stepdad--the man who raised me like I was his own. He was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and he is German through and through. The celebration of Christmas is major and magnificent in his home. He didn't teach me to love Christmas--I caught it from him. He was contagious with love for this holiday.

This evening if I could transport Mr. Fun and myself to some other place -- this would be the scene:

The two of us would be dressed to the nines--he would be wearing a distinguished black suit and I'd be wearing a black velvet gown. We would enjoy a delicious elegant meal at an exquisite restaurant. Then we'd drive to a premier concert hall and once there, we'd listen to an internationally acclaimed master chorale perform George Frideric Handel's Messiah. Along with the others we'd stand as the "Hallelujah Chorus" is sung. When the performance concludes and the applause fades to the muffled sounds of the audience exiting, we'd find a quiet late night place to enjoy a tall glass of champagne and some sinfully delicious dessert. We'd toast and together linger in a lovely holiday moment.

That's not going to happen tonight. But someone needs to tell Mr. Fun that Rosie wants to go on a date, not just any old date, but a DATE! All dressed-up and fancy. Hopefully, he'll read Rosie's blip tonight.

So, I love Christmas and the music that accompanies it (we've been listening to Christmas music since Halloween ended. Yes, that's a little crazy, but remember I was raised by a German who loves Christmas). So this evening because I won't be going to the exquisite concert hall, I thought you might like to join me in a rendition of the "Hallelujah Chorus" that is slightly different than anything I had ever heard, actually seen, before. It's not Hollywood, but I sure do appreciate all that went into its performance. I hope you enjoy it too. It doesn't require a black suit or a beautiful black velvet gown, but it will take a minute or two of your time. Enjoy!

Good night from Southern California, where someone forgot to tell the weather folks that December should be a little chilly. The high today was 79 degrees.
