Dinner Ahoy!

We bought this bell from a ship's chandler in the Isle de Re near La Rochelle many years ago when on a week's cycling holiday. It's a lovely region - we cycled from Niort, via Fontenay along the 'Venise Vert' a network of canals, staying at nice hotels with good restaurants. The only problem was the weather - it was Easter time and freezing. Wished we had woolly hats and gloves with us. I'm sure the Isle de Re is lovely in summer but there was a strong wind and driving ice cold rain. The weather cheered up on the day we were heading home.

The bell was very handy with teenagers and young 20 years olds in the house but not used very much now there are just the two of us.
