This afternoon I stopped in at the restaurant I used to serve at, and was a little surprised by how good it felt just to stand there. Sure, there were bad nights, angry patrons, moody managers... but I usually enjoyed being there. I loved being the first one in for the dinner shift, seeing the place empty and peaceful before opening the doors. I wasn't there quite late enough today to catch the really good light streaming through the blinds, but I was close.
