Crinoids

Have been checking up on few projects in the Ribble Valley. Weather was glorious. One of the projects is in an old limestone quarry that has been given back to nature at Salthill just outside Clitheroe. It is a site of scientific interest for its geology and has rare fossilised carboniferous mud mounds. Also it has tens of thousands of fragments of crinoid sea lilies that date from 340million yrs ago when this part of Lancashire was somewhere in the tropics.
