Climbing
The attitude at this climbing park is friendly, carefree, and inspiring. Passionate people fill the crooks and crannies of every climbing route. Some climbers can be spotted hundreds and hundreds of feet high. Others are found hanging upside down gracefully climbing out from under an overhang. It is incredible to see so many people in one place who all share the same dedication to the sport. An amazing way to appreciate the great outdoors.
Today, we took the kids to the climbing park and hiked down into the deep canyon. If you look carefully at this photo, you can see the path winding along the river. The views were breath taking. It was a photographer's paradise. I was able to grab some pictures from the top of the trail that captured the enormous heavy rock walls, the winding river, and a snow capped mountain in the background. Once we got down the trail with the kids and everyone was back on stable ground and solid footing, I was able to get a few more shots from the perspective of the ground up.
Our final destination was a small little climbing niche safe enough to plan a route for the kids. My sister began as the lead climber and scaled the face of the climb with grace and eloquence. I have always been so impressed with her strength and climbing abilities. Each of the kids were given the opportunity to climb the route. My nephew has tiny little rock climbing shoes, a harness, and a helmet that he shared with his cousins. This experience was such a confidence builder for the kids. A sport that is incredibly challenging. Something that they were able to experience on a much smaller scale. A climb that brought about smiles, laughter, and an incredible sense of pride and accomplishment. My parents were with us. The cousins were together. It truly was a very memorable family outing.
