Turkey vulture
This morning we met up with Philip at his house, then set out for San Antonio for the weekend. Philip was driving his own car, since we were flying back home from San Antonio. Our route took us through some of the Texas Hill country. Our first destination was Enchanted Rock State Natural area near Fredericksburg. We met up in the town of Llano for an early lunch then continued on to Enchanted Rock. The local Indian tribes ascribed magical and spiritual powers to the rock, hence its name. We took the trail to the top and admired the wonderful views, and I managed to get several decent shots of the turkey vultures wheeling overhead. Then we continued on into the town of Fredericksburg, which was settled by German immigrants and retains its German influences. We had a wander around the town then had dinner in one of the several German restaurants. Then we completed the remaining 60 or so miles into San Antonio.
Best seen in large.
