So Why Would I?

Why would I take a perfectly sharp image and deliberately blur it? Because I subscribe to Xtine's journal! She is always trying something new and mastered a technique in the style of Irene Froy.

I looked at Irene's website, fell in love with the look and soon had The Man and Chippy agreeing to go to Preston with me tonight to attend one of her lectures. She is a jovial Scottish speaker and showed us 150 images, her limited mobility meant that every shot was taken within 100 yards of the car!

What have I learnt?
It's fun to take off and do something different after work!
Images can be soft but still lovely.
It is often useful not to include the distracting colour of the sky in a landscape.
Choose the right photo paper type for the image.
Keep the colour palette of the image simple.

That's more than enough for me to learn in one evening and well worth a 140 mile round trip! While I was on my way into the lecture I took some shots of a rhododendron and tried to emulate the style. Thanks Xtine we had a great time.
