The Wall

One thing that always amazes me about wandering through the highlands of Scotland is the amount of old buildings lying abandoned. Clearances notwithstanding, some of it seems to defy explanation. This 50m section of wall connects to nothing, it just "is". I've got the idea for another project getting shots of these places, may be a very long project....

The mountain behind is Sgurr Choinich. Trish and I cycled a good way from the road and the headed up to Bealach Bearnais before striking up the face of this to the summit. Once in the clouds things got a bit gnarly. Driving hailstones and gail force winds made things a wee bit fraught before a navigational clusterfuck sent us off the other end. Reversing from this we then back tracked 1km and 200 m ascent back to the summit before striking out for the next hill Sgurr a' Choaraichan. Once on the top we were battered with gale force winds and were barely able to walk. We managed to get a bearing from the top and navigated well off the summit, we weren't crawling but it was getting close for a bit. We decided to take the quick way off and descend 6oom in half a km, it was bit steep. Managed to cross the river and then find the bikes to get out. 22km trip all told.

It was a very nice day!! I drank some 12 year old back at the cottage.....
