Large bears like to eat salmon. Alaskans like to fish for salmon.

It is not uncommon for Alaskans, bears, and salmon to occupy the same relatively small river bank. It is not uncommon for this to happen away from civilization. What to do?

Running is not recommended when encountering a bear. Many Alaskans, instead, carry a firearm for protection. A 44 magnum with a hard metal penetrating round will do.

So to be safe with a firearm it is sometimes good to practice up.

I don't know why he is practicing his pistol skills. If any bear were to see his 6 foot 7 inch stature, surely they would not be tempted to charge.

Remember, Alaska is the last frontier!
