China Camp Pier

I'm planning a backpack trip next month with three friends. Three of us made a practice trip to test our endurance and equipment in Marin County. Today we carried our backpacks filled with our gear on beautiful trails on Mt. Tamalpais and then set up camp in China Camp State Park on San Francisco Bay where we cooked backpack meals and tested our cooking equipment, recipes and cooking skills.

This beautiful campground has "walk-in" sites. You have to carry all your gear to a pre-selected campsite rather than driving in. It's not far and it served our purpose well.

We drove down to the edge of the Bay for some views before dinner, and this is one of them. It was a cold, windy, wet morning which made for beautiful skies and clear air toward evening.
