Was It Really So Long Ago

Meteor

The heads of these beauties have been above ground since November last year and have endured the freezing temperatures, snow and ice for weeks. I was keen to have an early crop of peas, to be replaced by a later variety as there never seems to be enough.

You see there are two young mouths that love to devour them straight from the pods on the plants. I don't mind this at all. In fact I keenly encourage the girls to visit the vegetable plot and see what's happening, to help with seed sowing and eating the results. They love it. I find it a trial at times, but I'm keen they both grow up with an appreciation for growing things. That's how I got started. I hope they get the 'bug' and I hope you like it.

Almost forgot, the name of this winter-hardy pea variety is meteor.
