Suilven

Jacob's holiday diary - Day 3

Today I conquered, at the age of three, my first mountain. It's called Stac Pollaidh. Scene of Uncle Leo's poor Leaning Tower of Pisa effort last year. In that one from last year and top left here over my left shoulder is Suilven. Some of its rock is 3 billion years old.
Afterwards we stripped off and paddled in the loch at the bottom that we had all to ourselves.

Dad was quoting Papa's old pal Norman McCaig's carved tribute at the bottom "I took my mind for a walk". He reckons he could write like that. It made me think he was suited to being up a mountain - his heid's always been in the clouds.
