Eurozone summit
There is an extraordinary eurozone summit taking place in Brussels today. The heads of state of the eurozone countries are discussing a number of initiatives to tighten control of eurozone countries' finances and stabilise financial markets. They will also give the final go-ahead to the financial aid to Greece.
Every time a meeting takes place in the Justus Lipsius building (Home of the Council of the European Union) they close off the area around it. We also live in this area and they always station three vans with policemen in front of our apartment building. It always gives me a strange feeling when I come home and see them standing there!
As you can see on the picture Spain currently has the EU Presidency. This changes every six months. In June they will hand over the EU Presidency to Belgium.
