county fair

I got several shots at the fair in our neighboring county this evening. Of them all I thought this one best conveyed the atmosphere of the ride and food combination that is so common at these events. I also got some shots of a man scultping a statue out of a log with a chain saw, cows in the animal barn, tractors on display, a woman dressed as a statue and posing and many of the main event concert.

I did not, however, get any shots of the beautiful quilts, flowers and garden trophys showing off their hard earned ribbons. But, you can't have a county fair without them. I also didn't get any shots of the pig races. Of course, we didn't see the pig races which was just fine with me.

The concert artist was Bucky Covington of American Idol fame. He is a North Carolina native and he said several times how good it felt to be "back home." He grew up less than two hours from here. He is true Country but he did throw in a Pink Floyd number near the end. That was good for me.
