Potter Marsh and Tidewater Slough

For August there has been a lot of sun. Usually we are in the monsoon season here in Alaska this time of year. But I am not complaining.

The marsh here has much more mud than what you can see. The dark stuff beneath the grass... mud. Beyond the marshy grass towards the shore... mud. Beyond the shore towards the Cook Inlet... mud.

In many places beneath the grass there is standing water.

I walked out to the tree to the left there and found I was not the only one to venture onto the grassy mud... footprints in the mud. Now what would anyone be doing out there?

We could take more days like today.
