"Dream"

From the M62, coming from Manchester towards Liverpool, in the right light, this statue looks RIDICULOUSLY phallic.

Up close, it's actually quite impressive.

It's called "DREAM" and it's at Sutton Manor (Jnc 7, M62). Sutton Manor is a lovely area which belies what lies beneath and it's past. When I was a little 'un, many, many moons ago, driving past this place was a signal that we weren't too far away from Grandma and Grandad Tattyhead's house. However, when we were in the back seat of the Orange/Red Morris Marina with the nasty black vinyl seats that BURNED when the weather was warm (I digress), this was not a visually pleasing place - it was just big hills of coal slag - the waste bye-product of coal mining.

So, when this statue was erected, the plinths had to be piled into the ground to a depth of 38 metres to hit bedrock. Find out more about the sculptor and the sculpture here

Anyway, it occurred to me tonight that I might owe MobileVirgin an apology - as twice in December I commented upon his ability to take me exceptionally close to hypothermia and frostbite. However, it would appear that it isn't his fault - it's just me and my dodgy hands and feet. I must go and buy some mittens on string so I always have them with me.

Must go. I heard the news. I need a drink of plonk. I am struggling with my political stance. I am finding myself being unpleasant about people I don't know and making rash judgements. I must let things unfold and when it appears that my initial thoughts were right, THEN I shall feel less guilty about making unpleasantries in my head. If I am proved wrong, and this all works out for the best, for the country, and for individuals; if the public sector are treated fairly and like professionals, then that will be welcome. But I fear I have no faith, in any party, as I continue to use the word "if" and not "When".

Is it wrong to just want a Government that is honest, open and doesn't fill us with mis-givings?
