Sad news

Not a very happy blip today I'm afraid. Last night we got home to find that Pauli had finally died. He seemed to be making a great recovery last week but in the past couple of days was clearly having trouble swimming and didn't seem to have much control over his movement. I'm pretty sure that it was a little tumour in his head that got him in the end, he kept falling over onto the side of his face that had got deformed.

Then earlier today Schrödinger got a stone stuck in his throat I think. I managed to catch him and have a look but I haven't been able to get it out; he's having no luck spitting it out himself. I phoned a vet who seemed to have no idea about fish at all. Worried now that he'll die too, because he won't be able to eat properly. All very bad timing :(

Anyway, the picture is one of the jackdaws who nest in our chimney every year. They have two babies who have already fledged but still spend a lot of time in the nest. I hope I'll be able to get a picture of them before they fly off for good.
