Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Anniversary Week Day 5

Memories weight nothing, but they are so valuable and significant. They give the opportunity to gain perspective.

On the day of our wedding, 3 snapshots were taken -- that's it! I'm sure it was a day that Mom was not planning to remember. I don't think Mr. Fun's parents planned to remember it either. We are so glad that someone clicked 3 times. It's a lousy photo, but certainly better than nothing. Our story of getting married at 15 and 19 is here.

Mom was mad and in command. I just agreed to whatever she and Mr. Fun's mom thought we ought to do. A yellow empire style dress is what Mom selected for me. Our next door neighbor was a seamstress, so she made the dress. I just took the dress out of my closet today to take another look. Back then I really didn't care what color or what style the dress was, I was just thrilled to be marrying him. I didn't have a clue what I was committing to.

What we know now is that the commitment requires lots of communication, compromise, common sense, candor, and creativity. Some things get better with age . . . hopefully the two of us have. We didn't start well; so we're hoping to finish well.

Thanks for looking in on our anniversary week. Thanks too for all the comments this week--it's fun to hear your thoughts. We'll leave in the morning to enjoy our weekend anniversary near the ocean. We plan to make a few more memories before this celebration week concludes. We'll continue blipping from the coast.

Good night from Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
