Laminar Flow

The thick mat of water plants growing in the river appeared to dance like part of the river current. It seemed their presence affected the boundary layer between the water and the rocky river bottom, reducing turbulence and making the surface of the flowing river appear like glass. This lack of turbulence in a moving current is termed "laminar flow".
