Interior, dusk

An oil painting from 1978 by a Filipino artist and friend named Tiny Nuyda - one of the few paintings that belonged to my mother that wasn't lost in the 1990 7.7 magnitude Baguio earthquake where she died, only 50. (I wrote about it here.)

Peonies from our garden in a cream glazed jug from a potter in Somerset, England.

An old 'bulol' (carved wooden granary rice 'god' from one of the mountain tribes of the northern Philippines) with bead, shell and wild boar's tusk neckpieces hanging from its neck, and a Boracay beach hat plonked on its head. A small glitter drawing by my daughter rests against the base.

Some cookbooks I'm reading. Assorted journals, neglected but patient. Leather pencil case.

An old Belgian stove in enamelled cast iron and chrome (possibly Art Deco period) that we bought for peanuts at the Oxfam shop in Namur 20 years ago. It still works, but we don't use it because it overheats our little house.

That's all folks. Bon weekend.
