Nature's vandal
Happened to mention to Eubers that a wasp kept visiting a particular spot on the garden table. I assumed there was some residual food deposit which was causing the interest. However, Eubers said that it was probably starting to build a nest nearby. He then pointed out that the tram lines on the table were where the wasp had begun to scrape the wood to take for the nest building process. Apparently they forage for wood fibres, chew and matt them with saliva to form new layers for the nest.
You can see in the picture that not only do they sting us, they vandalise your garden furniture too! Wasps have never been my favourite insects.
