Walk with Pride

Went up to London today to watch the London Pride parade. I love watching this parade. I love the fact that this parade happens. I love the fact that the armed forces can march through this parade with their heads held high without fear of loosing there jobs. I love the fact that people can walk through this parade without (I sincerely hope) fear of the bigoted recriminations that so recently formed part of both our legal system, and a shameful part of our culture. I love the transvestites and the drag-queens that make such a huge part of the carnival atmosphere, and I love the normal every-day people who just want to march to show their solidarity for who they are.

And I love this poster. Love is a human right. Governments have no business prying in to the relationships of grown adults. Whether a man loves a woman, or a man, or whether a woman loves a man or a woman, that's nobody's business but their own.

I was debating between two pictures to blip for the Pride; this one and another showing, "Homosexuality is a death penalty is these countries", listing a number of countries where simply being gay is enough to be killed. I also love Pride because it shows we have come so far, but we have so much further to go.

Here endeth the lesson :)
