Decisions
One of the young ladies in our office wants to get her mother a little point and shoot camera for her birthday, and after a little research, she had narrowed the field down to a Panasonic Lumix and a Ricoh Capilo.
The Panasonic was considered because she knows Flick and I both have the FX01, and sometimes we blip with them. She looks at blipfoto quite a lot, and is impressed by the quality of the pics that can be produced with this camera. The Ricoh was in the frame (ha) because both her brothers have one - and they like the camera.
After a brief discussion about comparative zoom multiples, field of view, shutter speeds, AF methods, ISO ranges, and macro modes, I offered to let her have a go of mine so she could get the hang of how it felt. I took a picture of my keys to show how the macro mode worked.
After a bit more of a technical discussion about the comparative merits of the two cameras, and particularly the ease of use, she has come to the conclusion that her mum would probably prefer the Ricoh because you can get it in pink.
