Lancelin
Our last stop before we headed home to Perth from our "short" winter holiday.
There is a desolate beauty to the ever-changing landscape of Lancelin. Nature lovers have plenty to feed their passion in a precinct of unique landforms and abundant wildlife. The sand dunes, 100% pure white sand whipped up by the onslaught of the Roaring Forties, are the largest in the state. Apart from their stunning beauty, the two kilometre long dunes are a vast playground for four wheel drives, dirt bikes, dune buggies, 4- wheelers and sandboards.
While up the dunes, we saw the beauty of Edward Islands, home to a colony of gulls which migrate there to nest each year. They are also home to seal lions, including a very friendly character that has become a local celebrity. We were told that often dolphins swim in the shallow waters by the jetty feeding on the local fare.
I wish we had a longer vacation... it's back to work and the hustle and bustle.
Have a wonderful week, everyone!
