Nana Bingo
Nothing to do with the Mighty Boosh this one. Don't think so anyhow.
After Saturday's photowalk around Stirling we headed off on our own walk around the slightly less photogenic Alloa. Took a walk down part of the old 'Waggon Way' that cuts an almost straight line under and through the town centre. It's part of an old road and rail system that carried coal from nearby mines all the way down to the River Forth and is now part of the National Cycle Route (No.76: Edinburgh to Callander). I've blipped down this way previously so we headed up back through some of the back roads around the town and hit the main streets again just as the afternoon Bingo sessions were coming out. Nana Bingo here certainly was motoring across the crossing here, probably heading home for some mince and tatties before zooming back up for the evening session.
Changed days from when my own mum used to play the odd game of bingo or three. Religiously on Monday's & Thursday's at the local Working Men's Club (same seat every time), then it was off to exotic Sauchie on the 'bingo bus' (the club put on a bus that drove around filling up with Nana Bingos from all corners of the Wee County) for the big money 'Snowballs' (whatever the hell that means).
Now it's all national link-ups and personalised-plated mobility vehicles it would seem.
