How dare they!

Where Eagles Dare (Actually, I don't think they're eagles. In fact, I've no idea what they are).

I used Joe's jumping-outta-the-tree-technique as they flew off the branch. The landing hurts.

So Jim Holt, Alan Greenspan and Thomas Powers et al reckon it was all about the oil? Well slap my thigh and call me Roger, that only took 'em 5 years. Astute indeed. (Sarcastic, I know. Greenspan's a good read actually.)

This is quite an informed article on the subject. Stand-out figures in it were: Of all America's debt they've an outstanding unpaid invoice to China of about $1 trillion. Of that, $400 billion is in US Treasury bonds held by China. (Obviously you can subtract from that bill the value of a wee public apology to the world by Mattel for dirtying China's name. Who initiated that wee set-piece it's hard to say).

When the most paranoid nation on the planet consider that China are buying 5 times as many military subs as them, the only way it appears they can continue to play hardball is staying put in Iraq. Dig the heels in. Pretty much forever in my lifetime. Glad we've got that all cleared up then; Dead Iraqis are officially "collateral damage". Everything has a price.

In better news - three corking movies coming out soon for the boys:

Into The Wild - Sean Penn glues his visual storytelling together with widescreen cinematography of a Kerouac-style tale of North America (Mr Grieve will appreciate it big-time - diary of a road-trip to Alaska with father-son relationship material). A must-see on the big screen.

American Gangster - What we wiggas call gangsta and all by the hand of Ridley Scott. A must-see on the big screen.

We Own The Night - 2 heavyweight actors of my era eating up the screen no doubt. A must-see on the big screen.

And..........MOST IMPORTANTLY - JC knocks back Bernie Ecclestone and QPR's new found millions. It's Friday, so I told you so. I said before Mowbray had even left that this was the man for the Hibees. Right after I'd read this article over a year ago on the 1st October: Restless Native. In it, near the end and speaking before last year's victory over France - "I saw the France v Italy game and that was the best I've seen France for many years, they were fast, sharp, hungry. But we've got to believe we can get a result." Read it all...What a hero!

Tomorrow - Scotland v. Ukraine - gotta be a home win.
Sunday - Bob Dylan night on BBC4 - gotta be a night in.
