Queen of the Cats

A fairly stressful day of travelling - the train from Edinburgh down to London kept slowing up and sometimes stopping so was late, and then there were massive queues for Eurostar check-in at St Pancreas. Eventually those of us for the Lille/Brussels train were encouraged to jump the queue of the Paris-bound and we just made it.

Then of course there was picking up the hire car in Lille and negotiating my way out of the city in the direction of Ieper. We ended up going the pretty way, but tant pis, as they say somewhere or the other.

Finally got to Annie's house in Ieper - a home away from home. Unfortunately Annie is away in Normandy on holiday, but she kindly left us her house key. The house is not so nice without her, but we made some food, drank a couple of beers and watched a bit of television (BBC 2!). Annie was Katte Koningin (Queen of the Cats) in 1967 - there's a brief mention of it here.
