Line check

We got to the festival site about midday in order to have a little rehearsal with the singers. We were supposed to have a line check at 2 pm (no time for a proper sound balance), but the preceding act overran a bit and took an age to get off the stage. So we scrambled on and started plugging everything in, which is what you see here - although there was still no sign of the orchestra.

Anyway, in amongst assorted sound crew you can just about see all the singers - well, Anja's red dress at least, plus Anu, Soetkin, Kaat, Vera and Trijn. In the foreground are Meles and her old guitarist friend Roland, occupied with a tangle of cables and plugs.

The orchestra eventually appeared, somewhat flustered - they had been lost amongst the fields of Flanders, although fortunately only temporarily. The cello players only made it onto the stage at about 14:40, ten minutes after we should have started. Just as well it was delayed!

Afterwards we wandered around the festival site a bit and enjoyed some hospitality - a whole Spiegel tent just for the artistes!
