Spring(s) in the air
The northern side of the boilerroom of EC 20.
Just one deck above the main steamvalves.
The security officer told me there was a piece of grating missing which might cause injury to someone who might not see that....
Tomorrow it will be fixed.
So here we are looking towards the back of the boiler.
The two big pipes are the so-called "warm reaheat" pipes.
The steam coming back from the High Pressure (HP) steamturbine where the pressure has dropped to appr. 35 bar (507 PSI) is going to be reheated again to 540 deg C at 35 bar and goes back to the Medium Pressure turbine.
The pipes are all hanging on springs to make sure they always are hanging in the right position according to the boiler's position.
This boiler is hanging about 2 meters above the floor and expands about 20 centimeters when it's filled with water (and steam).
The pipes must be able to expand too, so the hangers must be flexible.
