The Doors
My Blip hunting was much easier this evening, as this old building is right at the end of the street I'm staying in, and about twenty five feet from Laurence's Gate in Drogheda.
This Blip satisfies my love of antiquity, architecture, colours and random house design! I was speaking with the owner of a business connected to the green door and forgot to ask what age the building was. My estimation is 1860 to 1890. I'm a little puzzled though about the differing transom designs. The fanlight transom is very traditional and no doubt original, but the fact that the window and the transom above the green door are the same indicates that they were fitted simultaneously too.
It was the green coloured square stained glass that originally caught my eye. It has almost a Rennie Macintosh feel to it.
I also particularly like the patina the brickwork has built up and even the water stains add character. Just beautiful - and some late summer evening sunlight tops it off!
