Pancakes for Breakfast

Pancakes, American-style, are a fairly regular treat in our household--mainly on weekends. You're seeing a stack of three, layered with sliced bananas, on a plate from Mexico (one of a set with bird motifs, appropriately).

On the left is maple syrup (the real thing, slightly heated in the microwave). To the right is a coffee mug marking an anniversary at Somerville College, Oxford, where Marylee received a second B.A. in 1969. (worth viewing LARGE)

The New York Times is delivered to our door early every morning; it's as regular a part of breakfast as my orange juice*. The articles on Obama and the pastor (from Gainesville FL) who had planned to burn Korans reminds us that today is September 11th--thank goodness the pastor called that stunt off. The picture of Kim Clijsters rings a more positive note--she beat Venus Williams in a wonderful match yesterday to advance to the finals of the U.S. Tennis Open.

Edit: *It's not fresh orange juice, but Tropicana Pure Premium--next best, in my view.
