Hell Test #1
Wrote this index card out last night. I have never written so small in my life. It's covered on both sides with definitions and theorems and proofs for my Mathematical Analysis class.
I took the test today. I don't feel very good about it.
begin rant:
I don't understand why professors teach so much information and then give us test questions that we can't complete to the best of our knowledge because we either don't have enough time during a testing period, or don't have the brain capacity to memorize everything, or just need to have something to guide us through the work.
My math homework takes hours to complete for each assignment, just for 2-7 questions, and I have my notebooks and textbooks and the internet in front of me then and my classmates too to bounce ideas off of. So, I don't understand why tests have to be given solely from memory. I can't memorize proofs because it takes me a long time to understand them when they are in front of me. In order to compare stuff, I need to have a notebook to look back on. I don't know if this is just me being ridiculous, but I don't learn anything when I'm forcing myself to memorize information for a test because I forget it all almost immediately after. When I can take the time and use references to do my work, I'm both happier with the result and confident with what I've studied and learned.
Hrmph. Rant over.
