Let Sleeping Dogs Lie..or not.
This is our third dog (you've already met Millie and Bilbo in previous blips) Rannoch. Rannoch, lovely wee scrap that he is, is the bane of my life, at least financially!
Three years ago he was diagnosed with Cushings Disease which caused him to grow a huge blue veined pot belly and become incontinent! The pet insurance covered just the first year, and it took the vet 18 months to balance the meds. So every month I have to cough up about £50 for his tablets, and every three months it's a further £80 for the tests to see if the balance is right. Usually it's not, so a further £80 test is required to check the levels a couple of weeks later.... I shall shortly have to start turning tricks just to pay the vets fees! Now he's decided to be anoerexic and lost 2kgs in a matter of months. Being a small dog this was classed as 'significant' - you guessed it - that meant more tests to check there was nothing being overlooked by the focus on the Cushings. And the car MOT needed done too!
Every time I have to cough up at the vets I thank God for the NHS. Imagine having to decide if you can pay for the car tax or afford your kids tablets that month.
God Bless the NHS!
