A Church in Scaffolding
This is the Basilica of St. Adalbert, founded in 1881. The structure shown here was completed in 1913. The copper domes were deteriorating and the decision was made to replace them, funded by $937,000.00 donated by church members. The job is almost complete. For a while the domes will retain their copper glow but then will acquire the inevitable green patina.
Regardless of your thoughts on the Catholic Church, whether good, bad, or indifferent, they sure knew how to build beautiful churches.

Here's a brief history, and here is a link to Saint Adalbert (hopefully it's the right one :) I'm not a catholic so cannot verify the information but I do appreciate the churches :)
