Peppered with Grateness...
A fairly obscure title I know, but it does accurately describe this shot.
As part of our trip to Belgrade our group got taken out to dinner at a very traditional restaurant, which is decorated to look like an old-fashioned peasant house. Cue lots of plates and sepia photos on the walls, old domestic implements lying around, a million embroidered linen tea-towels and daybeds for seats.
The ceiling was strewn with bunches of dried chilli's, hanging from the light cables. The "lampshades" on the lightbulbs were actually cheese graters...throwing up all these brilliant shadows.
Belgrade is a wonderful, wonderful city - if you get the chance go, and if it isn't on your city list yet, make sure you put it on. It has a sense of somewhere that is re-emerging successfully after the recent wars, the people are wonderful and the food is out of this world - fabulous stuff and lots of it!! I don't think I will be eating for a week!
