This is a portrait of Mrs Madeline Mary Punch.

Mrs Punch is one of our neighbours here in Newnham.

This Grand Old Lady is now 91 years old and as such is the oldest person in the village to serve in the Second World War.

Mrs Punch spent all her working life in the health service and was Matron of Danetre Hospital in Daventry for 24 years.

Mrs Punch retired in 1974.

She was awarded the MBE in 1970 for her services to nursing.
