Power generation
Had to attend a meeting at the plant this afternoon.
I was a bit early, so I took this picture first.
There was a rather strong wind, causing a lot of windchill.
And at the newbuildingsites of NUON and RWE there was a sandstorm... Not so nice to do constructionwork in the open right now.
The Blip is a combination of three way to produce electricity: by means of wind, conventional in a gas-fired plant (unit EC 20 at full load) and by means of hydropower, produced in Norway and brought to us by a cable lying under water at the bottom of the sea.
That's direct current and in the converterstation at the right it is convertedback to alternating current again.
Picture is taken at the switchgear of a new substation (under construction) for the new powerplants.
