Found in the snow.
Following a tip from A I got an emergency supply of chocolate in Aldis and then made my way home. On the way I found this five pound note. My good luck, some one else's bad luck. I hope it doesn't leave them too inconvenienced.
For those that are not familiar with Scot's money there are four legal bank notes in Scotland.
The Bank of England, with the Queen.
The Bank of Scotland with Sir Walter Scott.
The Royal Bank of Scotland with The Royal Bank of Scotland's first Governor, Lord Ilay.
And the Clydesdale Bank with Sir Alexander Fleming, the Scottish biologist and pharmacologist whose discovery and isolation of penicillin marked the start of modern antibiotics and the transformation of modern medicine. Estimates put the number of lives saved to date by penicillin at over 200 million.
When Scotland and England united in 1707 it was agreed that Scotland and England would maintain separate financial systems, education systems, and legal systems. Over the years all three have been to some extent homogenised, but there are details like our bank notes that still highlight the pride Scotland has in it's own identity and history.
Here endeth todays distraction.
