Covering up.
Last week I blipped these Bakewell Slices. My friend saw them and told me that Bakewell Tart is one of the few cakes she actually likes.
Never one to ignore a challenge I offered to make one for her.
Having never made one before I looked up a recipe and set to. I should have read the comments on the recipe BEFORE I had the concoction in the oven.
Maybe then I would have known to put the mixture in a MUCH bigger pastry case.
Maybe then I would not have to watch aghast as the mixture started to rise up and over the edge of the tin.
Maybe then I would have had a lovely golden brown be-almonded creation.
Maybe then I wouldn't have had to slice off the burn bits and cover the remaining tart with thick glace icing.
Oh well, they say the mark of a good baker is one who can cover up their mistakes!!
